We raise small flocks so our baby chicks are handled throughout each day and taken outside for sunshine and indoors at night for safety and warmth. Chicks, like many baby animals, need to be kept very warm as they grow. The daily handling and interaction encourages curiosity of their environments and trust in us as we care for them. It gives us joy to see the birds come to us when we approach the chicken tractors (even when it isn't feeding time!).

Our chickens are raised on USDA certified organic pasture in fresh air and sunshine, sheltered by the boreal forest. They are on new, fresh grass every day with lots of freedom to roam and forage in the woods and pasture. The broiler chickens are raised 100% outside and fed only USDA certified organic feed, sourced from a small Minnesota granary. Antibiotic-free, pasture-raised chickens offer a leaner, tastier meat with more Omega-3's and less fat than commercially raised chickens.

Our live chickens are USDA Certified Organic by MOSA. The abattoir we use is not certified organic due to the equipment cleaning solutions they must use, thus we cannot use the organic seal on the packaging.
