What You Receive
Each week, you’ll receive a full share of freshly harvested vegetables. Shares are designed to feed 2–4 adults who cook regularly and enjoy eating with the seasons. The contents of each share evolve naturally over the summer, from early greens to peak-season abundance and early fall harvests.
Pickup Schedule
Tuesdays, 4:00–6:30 p.m.
June 23 through September 29, 2026
No pickup the week of July 6 (holiday week)
Cooler System
Members provide two clean, hard-sided 28-quart coolers by June 15. This keeps your produce fresh while you run errands and helps reduce packaging waste.
Communication
We communicate primarily by email. Each share has one designated contact person responsible for pickup and receiving weekly updates.
CSA Member Agreement
By purchasing a share, you acknowledge and agree to the CSA Member Agreement provided below. This outlines shared seasonal risk, pickup expectations, cooler guidelines, and other important details. Clear expectations are essential to a successful season.
Why Join a CSA
CSA members make it possible for small farms like ours to plan, plant, and grow with intention. Your share directly supports certified organic farming in the North while providing you with fresh, nutrient-dense food throughout the season.
CSA Agreement
CSA Member Agreement — 2026 Season
Sow. Reap. Eat. Repeat.
This agreement applies to The Boreal Farm 2026 Summer CSA season, running June 23 through September 29, 2026.
By purchasing a CSA share from The Boreal Farm, you become a member of our 2026 Summer CSA. Your membership directly supports the work of growing certified organic food in the North, and in return, you receive a weekly share of the farm’s harvest. This agreement outlines what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you as a CSA member.
1. Understanding the CSA Model
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a shared-risk, shared-reward model. Your early purchase helps cover the seasonal costs of seeds, tools, supplies, and labor. In return, you receive a weekly share of the farm’s harvest.
Farming is shaped by weather, pests, and natural conditions beyond our control. While we use diverse plantings, succession scheduling, irrigation, and resilient crop varieties to ensure a strong harvest, members share in both the abundance and the variability of the season.
2. Season and Pickup Details
Season: Tuesdays, June 23 – September 29, 2026
(No pickup the week of July 6)
Pickup Time: 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Location:
The Boreal Farm
5205 Arnold Road
Duluth, MN 55803
3. Pickup Commitment
Members are responsible for picking up their share during the designated pickup window, or arranging for someone else to pick it up on their behalf.
Unclaimed shares cannot be held and will be donated to a local organization.
Pickup hours are firm. Early arrivals are not permitted, but members are welcome to walk the grounds during the designated pickup window.
4. Cooler System
We use a cooler swap system to maintain produce quality and reduce packaging waste.
Members agree to:
• Provide two clean, hard-sided 28-quart coolers by June 15
• Ensure coolers are in excellent condition (attached lids, working handles, no cracks or exposed insulation)
• Bring one clean, empty cooler each week to exchange for the filled share
Failure to follow the cooler system may result in forfeiture of that week’s share.
This system helps maintain freshness, protect quality, and reduce waste.
5. Communication
Communication occurs primarily via email. Members are responsible for monitoring the email address provided at signup for important updates.
Each share must have one designated primary contact responsible for communication, cooler exchange, and pickup coordination.
6. Crop Availability and Substitutions
Each share reflects the natural progression of the season. While we strive to provide consistency and diversity, occasional substitutions may occur due to crop conditions.
When possible, we track and attempt to reintroduce missed crops later in the season.
7. Refund and Cancellation Policy
CSA shares are non-refundable. Your payment secures your share and directly supports seasonal farm operations.
Missed pickups, crop variability, and seasonal conditions do not qualify for refunds.
8. Payment Terms
Full payment is required at the time of signup through our website.
9. Force Majeure
Farming is subject to natural and environmental conditions beyond our control. In the event of severe weather, natural disaster, crop failure, or other unforeseen circumstances that make it impossible to continue the CSA season as planned, The Boreal Farm will make reasonable efforts to provide members with a fair portion of the harvest. However, full or partial refunds will not be possible.
10. On-Farm Presence
Members entering The Boreal Farm property do so at their own risk. The Boreal Farm operates in accordance with Minnesota agritourism liability statute (Minnesota Statute § 604A.40).
CSA Is a Relationship
CSA membership connects you directly to the seasonal rhythm of the farm. Your participation makes this work possible, and we commit to growing with care, transparency, and integrity throughout the season.
Confirmation
By completing your purchase, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this CSA Member Agreement and understand the nature of CSA membership and seasonal farm production.
